Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that centre-back Joe Gomez will not feature in the upcoming match against Manchester United at Anfield. Gomez, who has been a regular fixture for the Merseyside outfit this season, has been out with a muscle problem since the team's 5-2 defeat to Real Madrid in the Champions League last month. Klopp has stated that Gomez is "not close enough" to be reintroduced to the squad just yet.
Although Liverpool has recorded back-to-back clean sheets in their last two matches, the absence of Gomez is a blow to the team's defense. Liverpool will also be without the services of Thiago and Luis Diaz, who have been sidelined with hip and knee injuries, respectively.
Klopp's side will be looking to avenge their 2-1 defeat to Manchester United earlier in the season, and the German manager is well aware of the significance of the fixture for both clubs. Despite the absence of key players, Liverpool will be hoping to secure a crucial win at Anfield.
