Paris Saint Germain's star player, Kylian Mbappé, is expected to be named in the squad for their match against Bayern Munich on Tuesday, despite his recent injury. The 24-year-old suffered a thigh injury just 12 days ago, which was initially predicted to keep him out for three weeks. However, according to Le Parisien, Mbappé participated in a training session on Sunday and is set to make a surprise return in the crucial UCL knockout game, a week ahead of schedule.
The match against Bayern is crucial for PSG as they hope to finally secure a Champions League trophy to complement their domestic dominance. They faced Bayern in the 2020 final but lost 1-0 due to a Kingsely Coman goal. If Mbappé is in the squad, it will give a boost to manager Christophe Galtier's side, who have struggled in the past two weeks without their star player. They have lost two of their three games and suffered a 3-1 loss to Monaco on Sunday. Despite this, they still hold the top spot in Ligue 1 with a five-point lead over Marseilles.
After Tuesday's European game, Mbappé will be eager to get back to league action and regain his position as the top scorer, currently held by 21-year-old Reims striker Folarin Balogun, who has scored 15 goals in 22 league games this season, including a last-minute equalizer against PSG last month.
